TORQ Foundation, the philanthropic arm of TORQ Commodities, reaffirms its commitment to educational development with a successful corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative at Government Girls Secondary School (GGSC), Dawano, Kano State

In a bid to enhance the learning environment and support educational infrastructure, the TORQ Foundation recently conducted an impactful outreach program at GGSC. The foundation provided the school with essential educational materials, including 4000 exercise books, 2000 pens, and complete furnishing for the computer room, facilitating a conducive learning space for 40 students.

The initiative aimed to address critical resource deficiencies and create an enabling environment that fosters learning and growth among students. TORQ Foundation representatives actively engaged with the students, fostering interactions and presenting them with the donated items, fostering a sense of encouragement and enthusiasm among the school community.

Mrs. Hajia Sadia, the esteemed principal of GGSC, expressed her heartfelt appreciation for the TORQ Foundation’s generosity. She emphasized the vital role such initiatives play in enhancing the educational landscape and called for continued collaboration between the public and private sectors to ensure quality education delivery. “Initiatives such as this are very important to the development of education in the state. Government and private partnerships are key to delivering quality education. And guess who gets to be better off from such a partnership? The nation,” remarked Mrs. Hajia Sadia.

Mr. Alhassan, the Vice-Principal (Academics), echoed her sentiments, highlighting the positive impact the donation would have on student attendance and enthusiasm for learning. “With this development in the school, more students will be encouraged to be present at school. That is why the school management and community are really happy about this donation from the TORQ Foundation,” he enthusiastically stated.

TORQ Foundation’s commitment to community development and support for education aligns with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education. Mr. Abiola Oladiji, Marketing Coordinator for TORQ Commodities in West Africa, reaffirmed the foundation’s dedication to fostering inclusive and equitable learning opportunities for all. “For us, this initiative is quite important. Aside from the fact that it shows our commitment to the communities where we trade, it also shows our commitment to the United Nation’s sustainable development goal (SDG) in education for inclusive and equitable quality education and promotes lifelong learning opportunities for all, irrespective of their background,” commented Mr. Oladiji.

TORQ Foundation remains steadfast in its commitment to uplifting communities and empowering education. The organization aims to continue its efforts to contribute to the welfare and provision of quality education in the communities it operates in.
